Nobilia GB takes 55,000 sq ft at Kingsway Business Park
Kitchen contractor Nobilia GB has officially opened its new warehouse and head offices at Kingsway Business Park in Rochdale.
Nobilia GB is the sole supplier of German manufactured Nobilia kitchens to property developers in England, Scotland and Wales, and has a turnover of £16.7m. The company, which has served the UK contract sector for 20 years, has taken a 55,000 sq ft unit at Plot K on a 20 year lease.
The new premises are the biggest investment in the company’s history, and represent a significant vote of confidence in Kingsway from a rapidly growing company. The relocation - Nobilia GB has moved to Rochdale from West Yorkshire - is part of the company’s long term strategy to cut remedial times from three weeks to 48 hours for UK orders.
Claire Jones, Nobilia’s Head of Sales, said: “We chose Kingsway as we deliver all over the UK, and it is right next to the M62 motorway. Kingsway also offered the space we needed to put all of our logistics and offices in one location, making our entire operation more efficient. With this move we hope to be able to deliver a seamless service to our clients by delivering remedial items within 48 hours.”
Nobilia GB has invested a considerable amount in the new unit including new racking, a sprinkler system, improved warehouse flooring, training rooms and workshops, air conditioning, canteen and break out area, as well as office fit-out and furnishings. In addition, the company has installed a loading lift system.
The move will create 20 new jobs in Rochdale in the next two years in addition to the 55 staff that have relocated to Kingsway from Yorkshire. Rochdale Borough Council and Rochdale Development Agency (RDA) both supported Nobilia with their relocation and expansion project at Kingsway.
Councillor John Blundell of Rochdale Borough Council, who is a director of the RDA, said: “This is a significant investment in Rochdale by a thriving company, and the fact that Nobilia GB has chosen to relocate to the borough is further evidence of Rochdale’s growing reputation as a place to do business.”
The Nobilia GB deal is one of two major deals at Plot K, a speculative development owned by Ropemaker, in 2018. This leaves one remaining unit on Plot K (K-75) of 75,000 sq ft which is available for immediate occupation.
Kingsway Business Park has been developed through a joint venture partnership between Wilson Bowden, Homes England, Rochdale Borough Council and Rochdale Development Agency. The Nobilia deal takes the total development at Kingsway to 3.5m sq ft, with land for a further 2m sq ft still available for development.
P3, Colliers and JLL are the appointed agents for Plot K at Kingsway Business Park.
